The culture is still dhowing up and showing out! A petition calling for an investigation into the killing of Elijah McClain has now obtained over 2 million signatures.
On August 24th, Elijah was killed after being confronted by police officers, while on his was home from the grocery store.
Police claim they were responding to a call of a man acting suspicious when they saw Elijah wearing a ski mask. That’s when police tried to detain him by placing him in a chokhold, which allegedly cause him to yell out that he couldn’t breathe and vomit.
Although it was later revealed that McClain oftentimes wore his ski mask due to his anemia, police claim his wearing it made their use of excessive force appropriate.
Paramedics were eventually called to the scene. This is when they injected him with a sedative called ketamine, which caused McClain to suffer from a heart attack and fall into a coma. Four days later, the young man who was described as having a gentle nature and good manners was taken of life support.
The officers involved in his death have not yet received any punishment and people are now demanding justice!
