It’s official! Donald Trump is going down in history, but probably not for what he expected. He is now the third president in the history of the United States to be impeached.
This all comes after an over eight hour debate between House Republicans and Democrats on whether or not Donnie should actually be impeached. Ultimately, voting for impeachment on two articles including abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
Trump isn’t out of the White House door just yet, though. The Senate, which is majority republican, will now have to conduct a trial to determine if they will convict Trump and remove him from his position as president or acquit him.
Right now, Republicans hold a 53-47 advantage in the Senate, which could mean trouble. None of the Republican representatives in the chamber have expressed alliance with the conviction of the president. However, it will take 67 votes in order to get the job done. It’s also important to note that so far no president has been removed from office by the Senate.
