14-Year-Old Zaila Avant-Grande Makes History As 1st Black Winner Of Scripps Spelling Bee!

It’s a whole lot of Black Girl Magic going around and 14-year-old Zaila Avant-Grande is sprinkling all over the 93rd Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Zaila is now the 1st African American champion of the competition, and first competitor from Louisiana.
Not to mention, she’s also an elite middle school basketball prospect.
Now that’s excellence!
Congrats!
