On Monday, July 3rd, a nonprofit Lawyers for Civil Rights filed a lawsuit against Harvard University over legacy admissions. The lawsuit comes after the Supreme Court ruled to reject affirmative action in college admissions.
The suit highlights Havard’s acceptance rates of legacy applicants are “almost six times higher than the acceptance rate for non-legacy applicants.” The non-profit also points out that 70 percent of the university’s legacy and donor-related applicants are white.
The Boston-based non profit was sure to acknowledge that their efforts are on behalf of Black and Latino communities surrounding the school.
