It looks like Democrat’s are finally fed up with Trump, after the president’s administration refused to hand over a whistleblower complaint related to Trump’s interaction with the president of Ukraine.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the House is launching a formal impeachment inquiry into the President, just one year before the 2020 presidential elections.
Pelosi said, “this week, the president has admitted to asking the president of Ukraine to take actions which would benefit him politically.” She continued, “the actions of the Trump presidency revealed dishonorable facts of the president’s betrayal of his oath of office, betrayal of national security and betrayal of the integrity of our elections.”
The announcement marks the fourth time in history that a president has been at risk of being impeached.
Although many of Trump’s actions have been deemed questionable, he is now in hot water for allegedly pressuring the president of Ukraine to open a corruption investigation of former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., who is a leading Democratic candidate in the presidential race, and his son. It was also revealed that just a few days after the conversation Trump gave his staff the orders to freeze over $391 million in aid to Ukraine.
Tuesday Trump gave in and announced that he will authorize the release of the conversation’s transcript. However, after months of holding back, Democrats were not falling for Trump’s attempt to escape the possibility of impeachment. They demanded the full whistle-blower complaint and additional documentation about dealings with the White House and Ukraine.
