Comedian/Actor John Witherspoon Dies At The Age Of 77
The comedy and acting world has lost a true legend today! Actor and comedian John Witherspoon, who is best known for playing the role of Pops in “Friday” movies.
Although no cause of death has been released, John’s manager, Alex Goodman, told The Associated Press that Witherspoon died in his Los Angeles home late on Tuesday.
In a statement the family of John Witherspoon said, “We are all in shock, please give us a minute for a moment in privacy and we will celebrate his life and his work together. John used to say ‘I’m no big deal’, but he was huge deal to us.” The given statement also let’s us know John is survived by his wife, Angela, and sons JD and Alexander and a large extended family!

It is with deep sadness we have to tweet this, but our husband & father John Witherspoon has passed away. He was a Legend in the entertainment industry, and a father figure to all who watched him over the years. We love you “POPS” always & forever.
