Golden Globe Awards Receiving Backlash For Snubbing Ava DuVernay’s ‘When They See Us’

Just when we thought things we’re getting better, in regards to award shows giving black projects the honors they truly deserve, the culture has been failed yet again! This time by the Golden Globe Awards.
The nominees for the 2020 Golden Globe award show was released early Monday morning. However, many people found it strange that Ava DuVernay’s “When They See Us” was not nominated for any categories!
Now we all know not ever movie will be recognized, but DiVernay’s Netflix series was widely acclaimed worldwide! Not only did people consider it to be one of the top onscreen projects they’ve seen, the maintained the top streaming numbers on Netflix for months.
The Golden Globes’ voting committee must have been unusually forgetful this go-round, because “When They See Us” was all that was missing from the nominations. There were no female writers or directors nominated. Lupita Nyong’o was absent from the list of nominees dispute her breathtaking performance in “Us” and Zendaya also did not receive any recognition for her work in “Euphoria,” on HBO.
So, what y’all think? We still rocking with the Golden Globes or nah?
