Even though cases of the coronavirus are appearing throughout various continents, we haven’t yet reached the point t of there being a pandemic. However, the World Health Organization (WHO) says that there is a great potential that one could be near and they are warning governments to be prepared.
Durning a media briefing the WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, “Are we there yet? From our assessment, not yet.”
He continued, “for the moment, we are not witnessing the uncontained global spread of this virus, and we are not witnessing large-scale severe disease or death.”
As cases have risen significantly in countries other than China, concern about possible widespread global infection has increased. There has now been confirmed cases in countries including Italy, South Korea, and Iran. this has prompted some experts to warn that the coronavirus is already at pandemic levels. However, the organization did say that governments should start preparing now to act fast and isolate cases quickly.
