Last week, news broke that African residents and tourists in China have been barred from restaurants, evicted from hotels, and some have even been forced to sleep in the street as a result of discrimination from locals.
With images and videos of Africans being mistreated and living on the streets circulating, many governments, public figures, and activists have expressed outrage and urged people of African decent to stay away from the area.
Ugandan politician and musician Bobi Wine has now partnered with Neil Nelson, co-founder of Atlanta Blackstar, to provide aide to those being mistreated in China.
The two announced on Monday that they will be airlifting Africans from China in a joint statement.
“The two leaders are currently working together to facilitate a humanitarian mission to airlift those Africans and African-Americans who are affected by these attacks to a country in Africa that is willing to receive them,” read the press release. “We are also prepared to evacuate them to the United States for those holding U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status.”
Wine didn’t stop there, though. He took to Twitter saying, “we call upon leaders from across the global African community including political leaders, social activists, artists and other leaders to join in this effort.”
