Just when we thought our pets were safe, the coronavirus proves it is not discriminating.
It’s been announced by federal officials that two cats in New York have been infected and tested positive for COVID-19.
This makes the first confirmed case the United States has seen where the virus infected animals. The US Department of Agriculture said “these are the first pets in the United States to test positive”in a statement released jointly with the US Centers for Disease Control, on Wednesday.
There has not yet been any remarks made on precautions that can be taken to protect your furry loved ones and there has yet to be any evidence that shows pets can transfer the virus to humans.
As for the two cats, both of them displayed mild respiratory symptoms, but are expected to make a full recovery.
