States around the country are gearing up to reopen, however Missouri’s Gov. Mike Parson is taking a bit of a different stance than other states.
As of Monday, Missouri is the first state to resume live events and concerts, since the coronavirus pandemic began.
In the reopening plan Gov. Parson presented, retailers will be able to welcome in a limited number of patrons while restaurants can return to dine-in seating.
However, in regards to concerts the governor did state “seating shall be spaced out according to social distancing requirements,” six feet apart. He also added, “There are currently no limitations on social gatherings as long as necessary precautions are taken and six feet of distance can be maintained between individuals and/or families.”
Although, Gov. Mike Parson has laid out a plan for reopening many major cities within the state like St. Louis, Springfield, and Kansas City have expressed their intentions not to follow along with the plan given.
St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson made it clear, “though portions of the state will begin to slowly reopen Monday, [St. Louis] will not. While we are developing a phased approach for our own reopening, the City’s #StayHome orders remain in place. We will continue to be guided by data, not dates.”
