While most of us are out here trying to stay clear of catching the coronavirus, it looks like a nurse at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center believes there’s patients who are intentionally trying to get sick.
Yolanda Enrich, who works at the Medical Center in Winston-Salem, says “over the last few days, we have heard from a lot of patients and the community that they’re unafraid of getting the virus.” She also claims that some patients have taken things even farther and “are actually out and about trying to get the virus, so attending gatherings, parties trying to maximize their chances of exposure.
Enrich explained that younger patients have told staffers that their intention is to be exposed so they can develop the antibodies in order to be able to freely go out in public without worry. The problem is, however, scientists have not yet proven that those with antibodies are immune to contracting the virus again.
Yolanda said, “We’re really concerned about this trend. They can spread the virus around the community and hurt our vulnerable populations that will have serious health implications.”
