The verdict has officially been given in regards to R. Kelly’s trial!
On Wednesday, the “king of R&B” was sentenced to 30 years in prison following his conviction of all 9 counts in his sex trafficking case. The sentence was given in a Brooklyn courtroom, by Judge Donnelly.
According to reports, the judge didn’t miss the chance to speak directly to Kelly before she revealed his sentence.
“These crimes were calculated and carefully planned and regularly executed for almost 25 years,” Judge Donnelly said. She then went on to say, “you taught them to at love enslavement and violence.”
The R&B singer’s attorney did speak during a press conference that took place after the conclusion of the trail. She then confirmed their plan of appealing the 30-year sentence. While also voicing that his legal team believes the racketeering charge was “inappropriate.”
