It looks like Instagram will soon be making some changes that may make it’s users’ pockets a little fatter.
According to reports, the Facebook-owned platform will be introducing two new features that will allow creators to monetize the content they put out.
One of the feature’s Insta is introducing will be running advertisements on InstagramTV. Because IGTV allows users to post video content that is longer than 60 seconds there will now be 15-second vertical ads incorporated into the videos.
So, how does that help creators get a bag? Well, Instagram has agreed to share the profits made from ads with users.
That’s not it, though. The second feature the social media platform in introducing will be the addition of “paid badges’ during IG Live sessions. These badges will create a way for fans to directly show love to their favorite influencers through monetary gifts.
Although creatives have found ways to use their Instagram for profit, this is actually the first time the app will allow users to monetize their content, since its introduction back in 2010.
Instagram’s vp of business and media, Jim Squires, says the new features will help creators make “livings.”
He went on to tell The Hollywood Reporter, “Creators are such an important part of Instagram, so we continue to look at ways of allowing creators to turn their passions into livings on the platform.”
