Miss South Africa Wins 2019’s Miss Universe!

Looks like we have another win for the culture! Sunday night, Zozibini Tunzi was crowned Miss Universe, after competing against 89 women from 6 continents.
Tunzi now makes the 2nd Miss Universe to come out of South Africa in the last three years! She didn’t just represent for South Africans, though. Zozibini won her title while promoting natural beauty and rocking her natural hair too!
The 26-year-old took her final moments in the esteemed pageant to explain, “I grew up in a world where a woman who looks like me — with my kind of skin and my kind of hair — was never considered to be beautiful.” She continued to say “I think it is time that that stops today. I want children to look at me and see my face and I want them to see their faces reflected in mine.”
This now makes history as the first time Miss Universe, Miss USA, Miss America, and Miss Teen USA are all black! Now that’s what we call black girl magic!
